Eliminating the risks of working with ozone Envirotech Online

As an expert in toxic gas sector Sensorix GmbH knows how harmful ozone gas can be. To correctly measure you need reliable gas detection instruments with highly selective gas sensors which are able to detect low gas concentrations. Therefore, we are pleased to present our electrochemical sensors for ozone detection – Sensorix O3 1 and O3 1 F, as well as a new ozone sensor for disinfection – Sensorix O3 5 D.

Ozone is widely used in sterilisation and disinfection processes, especially in water-treatment and air ozonation because of its bactericidal properties. However, this powerful gas is highly toxic and chemically reactive. The workplace exposure limit for ozone is 0.10 ppm (0.2 mg/m3) for 8 hours, recommended by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Additionally, above concentrations of 5 ppm it is immediately dangerous to life and health of workers.

Constantly monitoring of ozone concentration in the air may protect your employees and your business and minimize your risks as well. You have to be sure that your gas detector has a high-quality sensor with high sensitivity, fast response time and long-time stability.

So, Sensorix has designed and developed 2 new ozone gas sensors: Sensorix O3 5 D for disinfection with 5 ppm measuring range and 50 ppm overload concentration tolerance and Sensorix O3 1 and O3 1 F for industrial safety, indoor air quality and environmental monitoring.

The difference between the O3 1 and O3 1 F is that Sensorix O3 1 has higher sensitivity and a lower detection limit. It is the standard sensor suitable for most applications. The Sensorix O3 1 F has an additional diffusion barrier which reduces sensitivity but increases stability in high air flow conditions.

All sensors are available in standard formats – 4S, 7S, Mini, Classic, as well as in customer specific mechanical adaptations.
